Braintree has always been focused on partnering with merchants around the world to deliver the best and most robust commerce experiences for their customers. A very important component of this is offering merchants the ability to accept the most relevant forms of payment in one integration, in addition to supporting international expansion for merchants who wish to grow their reach.
Building upon our existing support of American Express cards within Android Pay™ and Apple Pay™, today we are excited to announce support for both Visa and Mastercard in both wallets in Australia, through Braintree Direct. With just a few lines of code, merchants will now be able to add both Android Pay and Apple Pay to their checkout flow quickly and easily.
These new additions will allow merchants to offer richer commerce experiences by giving their customers greater flexibility and choice at checkout, in addition to offering PayPal, credit cards, and debit cards.
Guzman y Gomez is one of the first Braintree merchants in Australia to integrate Apple Pay. GYG serves delicious, real, authentic Mexican food, at speed. With more than 80 restaurants (and counting) in Australia, GYG is the nation’s fastest growing fast food company. It was awarded the highest customer satisfaction rating and Australia’s favourite quick service restaurant at the Roy Morgan Awards. The integration will allow customers of the popular food chain to use Apple Pay when ordering their favorite Mexican dish in its app.1
The extension of Android Pay and Apple Pay in Australia furthers our ongoing mission of supporting our merchants as they continue to break down borders and expand their commerce offerings globally. With 71% of Australian consumers shopping on mobile2, it is becoming increasingly important to give our merchants access to the most relevant and secure forms of payment. We have been an early partner to Android Pay and Apple Pay as their reach has expanded around the world and we are excited to continue this growth alongside them.
