We have just enhanced our Pay with PayPal vaulted payment flow, offering merchants an easier, more streamlined buying experience for their end users. Now, when consumers choose to pay with PayPal, they will encounter more options, fewer clicks, and an overall easier process for completing purchases.
Launching now in Beta, the key features of this updated flow are:
- One Touch for Web
- consumer selection of funding source
- two-factor authentication support (limited to US, UK, CA, DE, AT, and AU)
- guest checkout
all of this provides added flexibility while reducing friction. What’s more, those who have opted into One Touch™ on any other site will skip the login step for all merchants integrated with this flow.
Merchants with web and mobile web integrations can enable this new set of features starting today -- without any additional code or integration work. However, we do suggest performing Sandbox and Production testing to ensure data is received as expected. Merchants with mobile SDK integrations will be able to use this new flow after the release of our new iOS and Android SDKs in late October.
Here are a few features we couldn’t squeeze in with the initial launch, but we’re actively working to bring to merchants down the road:
- Cancel Preapproved Payment - There’s currently no way for merchants programmatically to delete the PayPal Preapproved Payment that is created with the consumer after they complete the checkout flow. We will add a method for merchants to do this in the future.
- Customize Preapproved Payment Description - We are currently populating the description of the agreement that is displayed for consumers in their PayPal profile as "Purchase Agreement". We plan on allowing merchants to set their own description for agreements that are created.
These improvements come as part of Braintree’s initiative to integrate more closely with methods like Pay with PayPal -- making payments simpler for merchants and consumers alike.
